This has been another outstanding year for niecyisms', full of so many new opportunities and milestone achievements.  I am proud to announce that World Book Night 2014 is an upcoming event that is once again providing an amazing opportunity and achievement to add to my list of credits.  I am honored to have been selected for the second time as one of many applicants internationally chosen to be a Book Giver.  My responsibility as a Book Giver will be more than simply distributing books, I will be able to give the gift of reading to people not likely to read for interest.

The origination of World Book Night is the fruition of the efforts of a non-profit organization dedicated to "spreading the love of reading, person to person." The annual event takes place on April 23, the birthday of William Shakespeare- quite the tribute to great works of literature.  Each year thousands of  book givers hand out about approximately half a million specially printed copies of the selected World Book Night paperback books locally.  The World Book Night editions of these books are printed through the generous funding of  publishers and financial donations of literary benefactors.

The UK successfully originated World Book Night in 2011, the US followed in 2012, making this year the third celebration of  WBN in the United States.   This year I am most excited to have the opportunity to distribute  Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain, a highly recommended read by the No-Holds-Barred Bourdain, acclaimed chef, author and recognized  Travel Channel celebrity figure.   I look forward to being able to participate as a book giver combining two of my life passions; reading and community service. "World Book Night is about giving books and encouraging reading in those who don’t regularly do so. But it is also about more than that: It’s about people, communities and connections, about reaching out to others and touching lives in the simplest of ways—through the sharing of stories."
